Common questions
-
Where should the phone be?
Somewhere central, like the middle of the table, screen down. Keep it out of pockets and bags, and away from speakers or a running tap.
-
What do the five levels mean?
Hushed is like a library, Soft like reading aloud, Talking like chatting at dinner, Lively like a busy café, and Loud like a playground. Phones and rooms differ, so treat them as a guide.
-
Why did the reminder play so soon?
The level may be a little low for this room. After a session, choose Too soon on the recap, or change the situation’s level.
-
Can I make my own situation?
Yes. In the situation list on Home, tap Something else, give it a name and choose its level.
-
Can I use it just for myself?
Yes. With AirPods in, only you hear the reminder. With Apple Watch, you feel a tap on your wrist. You can also keep an eye on the screen.
-
Does Inside Voice record us?
No. Sound becomes a loudness number a few times a second and is gone right away. No audio is ever saved or sent. Your situations and settings can be part of your own Apple backup.
-
What counts as a free session?
Every session of five minutes or longer uses one of the 5 free sessions. Shorter sessions are free. After that, Inside Voice is a one-time purchase.
-
I bought Inside Voice before. How do I get it back?
Open Settings in Inside Voice and tap Restore Purchases, signed in with the same Apple Account you bought it with.
-
Which devices does it run on?
iPhone and iPad with iOS 26 or later.
